Drug Suspect Who Allegedly Fired At SWAT Officers Found Dead After Standoff

CERRITOS (CBSLA.com) — Long Beach Police said a drug suspect who allegedly fired on SWAT officers Friday morning has been found dead after an hours-long standoff in Cerritos.

Shots fired were reported at about 4:50 a.m. from a home in the 18400 block of Alexander Avenue in Cerritos.

Police in Long Beach confirmed it was an officer-involved shooting involving a SWAT team.

The man reportedly fired on them with an assault rifle.

Authorities were reportedly trying to serve a search warrant on the man when he opened fire, officials said.

After tear gas was fired into the residence, the suspect's mother and uncle left the residence.

The man was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.
