Long Beach Police Arrest Suspect For At Least 2 Kidnap/Sexual Assaults Against Female Minors

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com)   —  Authorities have announced the arrest of a suspect they said is responsible for at least two sexual assaults against female minors he also kidnapped in the LAPD's 77th division.

The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Samuel Alexander Vasquez of Long Beach.

Detectives said Vasquez accosted a 16-year-old who was walking home in the area of 75th Street and Figueroa on September 27. They said he forced the teen into his vehicle at knife-point and then drove her to a second location where he sexually assaulted her.

Authorities said he struck again, about a month later on October 28. This time they said Vasquez approached a 14-year-old  walking home in the area of 70th Street and Flower Street. The suspect held a knife on the victim while he drove to another location, parked and sexually assaulted the girl.

Vasquez was arrested as he was leaving work.  He was charged with kidnap with the intent to commit sexual assault.

He is being held in lieu of a $1,000,000 bail.
