Long Beach firefighters put out brush fire near 405 and 710 Freeways

Long Beach firefighters were battling a brush fire south of the transition between the southbound 405 Freeway and the 710 Freeway in Long Beach, which had shut down three freeway lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

 A SigAlert was issued while firefighters worked to put out the blaze. The SigAlert was canceled and the freeway lanes cleared around 7:15 p.m., according to the CHP.

According to Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jake Heflin, the county fire units were released around 6:15 p.m. Sunday. 

No injuries were reported, Heflin said. No estimate on acreage burned was immediately available.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
