Young Father Shot To Death In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Tuesday investigated a deadly shooting in Long Beach.

The incident was reported at 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Lime and 9th streets, according to police.

Upon their arrival, officers located an adult Hispanic man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity was officially being withheld pending family notification, but CBS2's Jasmine Viel reported friends identified the man as 18-year-old Manny Arechiga.

According to witnesses, Arechiga a frequent visitor in that area.

Police said there is no indication that the shooting was gang-related.

A suspect description has not been provided.

The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
