Lionhearted Kids Offering Donation-Based Yoga Class In Silverlake

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Alexis Novak and Lauren Pech from Lionhearted Kids visited the KCAL9 studios Wednesday to talk about the free counseling for families experiencing trauma in South Africa.

Lionhearted Kids promotes therapies using play, art, music, touch (massage) and movement. These modalities focus more on the child's sensory world and regulating his or her nervous system (lower brain centers) as opposed to traditional therapies that have more of a cognitive behavioral focus. All of our therapies draw from the principles of Synergetic Play Therapy, a style of Play Therapy that emphasizes the relationship between the therapist and child as central to healing. All of these therapies can be used with adults as well.

The group also offers complimentary "Yoga Therapy". LHK is offering a yoga donation class at One Down Dog in Silverlake on Aug. 15.

Doors open at 7:45 p.m. for an 8 p.m. class.
