Lionel Richie To Be Honored As MusiCares Person Of The Year

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Four-time Grammy winner Lionel Richie will be honored in February as the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year.

The star-studded annual gala and concert will be held in Los Angeles two days before the GRAMMY Awards will take place.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit MusiCares, an organization that assists musicians in times of hardship, whether financial, medical or personal.

Richie is being honored for his charitable contributions, as well as creative accomplishments.

He has supported numerous causes, which include but aren't limited to: AIDS, famine, and human rights.

The GRAMMY Awards will be held at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. on Feb. 15, 2016.
