Lebron James To Star In Newly Announced 'Space Jam 2'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - NBA superstar LeBron James is set to star in the much-anticipated sequel "Space Jam 2."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Lin, who directed four of the "Fast & Furious" series and "Star Trek Beyond", will be directing James in the new movie.

Rumors of a sequel for the 1996 hit "Space Jam" featuring Michael Jordan have been circulating since July when James and his company SpringHill Entertainment signed a deal with Warner Bros.

The first motion picture earned $230 million worldwide and saw Jordan teaming up with many Looney Tunes characters to play a game of basketball against aliens who stole the NBA player's physical abilities and threatened the Looney Tunes' freedom.

There has not been a release date for this film, as Lin is currently in the process of still putting together the script.
