LBSU Women's Basketball Player Proposed To On Court After Overtime Loss

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Following a disappointing performance on the court, a Long Beach State women's basketball player netted something else Saturday night: a marriage proposal.

The Long Beach Press Telegram reports that after a game in which she shot 0 for 3 from the field, Alex Sanchez found herself on the court and her boyfriend on one knee.

Chris Helmage popped the question after the video scoreboard showed a collection of photos of the couple.

Sanchez accepted and she and her teammates began to celebrate.

Earlier, Long Beach State lost 107-102 in overtime to Cal Poly. "Usually when we lose, he knows not to talk to me," Sanchez joked.
