LAX Maintenance Means 3 Nights Of Re-Routed Landings, Noise

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Maintenance work at Los Angeles International Airport will lead to three nights of re-routed plane landings over neighborhoods to the east.

LAX officials said Sunday that the usual nighttime noise reprieve will be suspended Sunday, Monday and Tuesday because of renovation of the airport's southern-most runway.

All planes will be arriving from the east during those nights. Residents of Lennox, Inglewood and other communities are being told to expect excessive noise.

Usually planes landing between midnight and 6:30 a.m. approach from the ocean.
