Law Enforcement Supporters Stage Hollywood Pro-Police March

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) —  The LAPD's labor union on Saturday morning organized a pro-police gathering and march in Hollywood to support local officers amid a nationwide conversation about use of deadly force and the role police officers should play in communities.

The march began at the Hollywood Community Police Station on Wilcox Avenue and ended at the CNN building on Sunset Boulevard.

The purpose of the event was to "remind the community to keep public safety first." Marchers said it was important to remember that officers risk their lives to do their jobs and keep people safe.

Participants were encouraged to wear blue as a symbol of support for law enforcement. Some wore shirts that read "blue lives matter."
