Large Water Main Break Sees Geyser Gush In Orange County

MISSION VIEJO (CBSLA.com)  — A large water main break in Mission Viejo Friday evening looked like Old Faithful as a large plume of water went airborne.

The break occurred at Santa Margarita Parkway  and Monterey Streets, near a condo complex.

The break has created a gully near one building but officials said no buildings are threatened with structural damage and the building in the path of the gully is non-residential.

Local water crews and Orange County Fire Authority are on scene trying to repair the break.

There is no official reason for the break but officials think erosion is a possible cause.

The first call about the break came in just before 6:45 p.m.

Officials said it took about two hours to get the water completely shut off.
