LAPD Wounds Suspect In Officer-Involved Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department encountered a man with a gun in South LA Thursday resulting in an officer-involved shooting.

Authorities said that just after 5:00 p.m., officers from Southeast Division were patrolling the area of 97th Street and San Pedro Avenue due to two earlier drive-by shootings, one of them resulting in a fatality.

The officers approached a 20-something male suspect who was armed with a weapon. An officer- involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was struck and transported to a local hospital where he was reported to be in surgery. No officers were injured.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.
