LAPD Says Twitter Account 'Compromised' After 'White Supremacists' Tweet

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - The Los Angeles Police Department's official Twitter account was apparently hacked Monday with a message calling the department "white supremacists".

The tweet was deleted minutes after it was posted just before 2 p.m. on the @LAPDHQ account.

The department later tweeted this statement: "We are aware that our #LAPD account was compromised and are taking the proper steps to resolve this issue."

It's unclear exactly how the account was compromised.
