Landlord Police Say Had Crossbow Taken Into Custody In West Hills

WEST HILLS (CBSLA.com) — An individual police say was armed with a crossbow has been taken into custody after keeping officers at bay in the West Hills area.

The Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Division said the situation unfolded in the 22500 block of Criswell Street around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday.

It was then, police allege, that a landlord had threatened a tenant with the crossbow.

Police said the suspect had refused to come out, resulting in a barricade situation and prompting a SWAT team to be dispatched to the scene.

The bomb squad had also been dispatched as police believed there were materials inside the home capable of making a Molotov cocktail, the LAPD said.

As of 10:20 p.m., authorities report that the person has been taken into custody.
