LAPD Seeks Help Finding Driver In North Hollywood Hit-And-Run Death

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed a woman Friday night in North Hollywood.

Melva Evangelin Chapman, 57, of Sun Valley, was crossing Saticoy Street near Irvine Avenue when she was struck by the truck around 8:30 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Jane Kim.

The woman was in an unmarked crosswalk and wearing dark clothing when she was struck, according to LAPD Capt. John McMahon.

The vehicle that struck the woman was describe as a white Toyota Tacoma pickup.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8116.
