Police Apprehend Suspect Who Allegedly Dropped Weapon Near USC

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they have apprehended a man who allegedly tossed weapon near the University of Southern California campus.

Los Angeles police said the incident unfolded about 8:32 a.m. Sunday when USC security personnel attempted to make contact with the occupants of a vehicle in the 1500 block of W. 27th Street.

Police said that's when the male passenger exited the vehicle allegedly with a weapon and ran from the scene. Police said the weapon was later recovered.

Authorities also said the driver fled the scene in the vehicle, which was last seen traveling northbound on Budlong Avenue from 27th Street.

No injuries were reported. No evacuations were ordered.
