DUI driver leads police pursuit through San Fernando Valley and Ventura County

A two-county police pursuit ended with the arrest of the 27-year-old driver near Santa Barbara County on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Police Department started the pursuit in North Hollywood on suspicion of DUI and possession of a firearm. The driver, identified as Luchiano Antonio Lewis Villanueva, fled from officers. Villanueva led the LAPD through city streets and nearly every freeway between Sun Valley and Woodland Hills until the California Highway Patrol took over.

The pursuit continued for another 15 miles before the CHP used a spike strip to slow Villanueva down. Villanueva was eventually forced to stop on the right shoulder of the 101 Freeway near Seacliff Avenue.

Villanueva was taken into custody and transferred to the LAPD. Police say he now faces various charges, including suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.
