LAPD Arrests Wanted Gang Member After Brief Chase Around Atwater Village

LOS FELIZ (CBSLA.com) The LAPD is pursuing a wanted gang member in Atwater Village.

The suspect is driving in a white Toyota.

It is unclear what the suspect is wanted for other than his gang affiliation.

Stu Mundel in Sky2 said the suspect was driving erratically at very high speeds.

The man has also been driving on the wrong side of the road. He's making a lot of "crazy maneuvers," Mundel reported.

Police described the suspect as "very dangerous."

The LAPD said the man is not in a stolen vehicle but said a license plate check determined the driver was wanted "for a felony crime." They did not specify what the crime is.

The suspect drove into a cul-de-sac in Glendale and cornered by officers with guns drawn.

It is not known if the suspect is armed.

He got out of the vehicle apparently on a cellphone. After a moment, he tossed the phone away.

Police ordered him to the ground. The suspect then tossed off his cap and then assumed the position.

Authorities took the suspect into custody without further incident.
