LAPD Officers Shoot, Injure Allegedly Armed Man In DTLA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department shot and injured a man Thursday in a downtown alley.

According to police, officers initially responded to reports of a man with a gun in the area at about 4:40 p.m.. When they located the allegedly armed man in the alley near the intersection of 6th and Olive streets, officers called for backup.

According to police, the man, described as a male Hispanic in his 30s, "produced an article that resembled a handgun," at which point officers opened fire, striking him.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No officers were injured.
