LAPD Motor Officer Hurt In Hit-And-Run Crash; Driver Sought

VALENCIA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday sought the public's help to find a motorist behind a hit-and-run crash in the Valencia area that left a Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer injured.

The accident was reported about 9:30 a.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway north of Hasley Canyon Road, according to California Highway Patrol.

The LAPD officer was southbound on the freeway when his motorcycle was rear-ended, said CHP Officer Josh Greengard of the Newhall Area office.
He was taken to a hospital, but the severity of his injuries was not immediately released.

Authorities told CBS2's Dave Lopez the suspect was driving a full-size white truck, possibly a Chevy or Dodge Ram. The driver may have been shirtless at the time of the accident, according to Lopez.

Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the CHP Newhall area office at (661) 294-5540.
