Evacuations Lifted After Suspicious Package Found In Van Nuys

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A suspicious package discovered inside a reportedly stolen vehicle in Van Nuys prompted evacuations of local businesses and residents Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers responded around 10:55 a.m. to a report of an unattended stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the 15000 block of Vose Street, officials said.

A bomb squad was called to the scene to investigate a suspicious package left inside.

A shopping center on Van Nuys Boulevard and several houses along Vose Street were evacuated as a result.

A LAPD spokesperson said nothing was detonated. The bomb squad lifted the evacuation orders just before 3 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what was in the package.
