Victim died prior to Hollywood bungalow fire; LAPD investigating

Los Angeles Police say a person found dead inside a burned bungalow in Hollywood Monday night died before the fire started, calling it a "suspicious death."

At 9:45 p.m. LAFD firefighters responded to a one-story bungalow with smoke and flames showing on the 6000 block of W. Fountain Ave. near Gower St. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which reportedly consumed one room. CBSLA

Firefighters then found a dead body inside the bungalow. Evidence indicated the person had died before the fire started.

The Los Angeles Fire Dept. notified the LAPD and a criminal investigation began.

Los Angeles Police were working with LAFD arson investigators to determine how the fire started, and the cause of death of the victim was under investigation.

It was unclear how the fire and the death were connected, but LAPD confirmed the death is suspicious in nature.
