LAPD Hopes Public Can Help Them Nab Package Thief

VENICE (CBSLA.com)  —   LAPD Detectives are hoping the public can help them identify and nab a thief who stole a package from the front porch of a victim's residence in the Venice area.

Pacific Area detectives received a residential theft report on Tuesday. While conducting their investigation they became aware that the victim's home video security system aptured the suspect walking up to the porch and taking the package that had been delivered by UPS.

Authorities said another angle  also captured a small 4-door blue Toyota sedan driving past the victim's residence, making a U-turn and driving past the residence again.

Within less than a minute, the suspect is seen committing the crime. The video was posted on-line by the victim to assist in the identification of the suspect. For a link to the video, click here.

The suspect is described as a Latino, wearing a red hooded jacket, black T-shirt with white lettering, and black pants.

With the holiday season and the obvious increase in residential packages and gift deliveries, authorities are reminding the public to be vigilant and cautious.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact Detective Chavez at (310) 482-6335.
