LAPD Cruiser Crashes During Pursuit Of DUI Driver

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities arrested a DUI suspect Tuesday after he led police on a pursuit that ended in a crash.

The chase began after the suspect failed to pull over for police when he ran a red light.

The pursuit ended around 1:45 a.m. near the intersection of Sherman Way and Firmament Street in Van Nuys when an LAPD cruiser slammed into a median, police said.

The suspect's SUV stopped about a block away and the driver fled the scene on foot.

He was arrested around 5 a.m.

Two passengers in the suspect's vehicle were briefly detained.
