LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives were investigating on Sunday the death of three family members who were found inside their Wilshire Area apartment.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent around 3:30 p.m. Saturday to the 1100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard for a death investigation.

Once on scene, officers learned the apartment manager went to check on the tenants after a foul odor was detected coming from their apartment.

The manager explained to police that an elderly Korean couple and their adult son were found dead inside the apartment.

When paramedics arrived, they pronounced the three family members dead at the scene, police explained.

A preliminary investigation revealed the adult son took his own life following the slaying of his parents.

The cause of death for the elderly couple is still being investigated.

Police said the son was 54-years-old and the father was 86. An age was not given for the suspect's mother.
