Lancaster Woman Shot By Husband In Front Of Family

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — A Lancaster woman was recovering Thursday after being shot by her husband in front of family members.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent to a home located in the 2700 block of East Avenue J-4 around 12:30 a.m. for report of a shooting.

A preliminary investigation revealed the incident started as a domestic dispute between the husband and wife.

"It appears the husband shot the wife in the upper torso," said Lt. Margarita Velazquez. "He gave up and turned himself in."

The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the shooting. Officials said she is in stable condition at this time.

Deputies took the husband into custody at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
