Lakers Re-Sign Shawne Williams To 10-Day Contract As Nick Young Will Be Out At Least 2 Weeks

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - The Los Angeles Lakers have re-signed forward Shawne Williams to a 10-day contract to replace the injured Nick Young, who will be out at least 2 weeks with a non-displaced knee fracture.

The Lakers went in to Cleveland Wednesday night with only eight available players. Then Young went down in the first half (knee), while the final reserves Chris Kaman(foul out) and Jordan Farmar (leg cramps) left in the fourth quarter, leaving the Lakers with five players.

Luckily, the Lakers were able to hang on 119-108 with a rule that kept Robert Sacre on the floor with six fouls.

So Williams will try help bolster the front-court with both Young and Pau Gasol out.

The 6-foot-9 forward out of Memphis played in 34 games and 11 starts with the Lakers, averaging 5.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 20.2 minutes.
