Lakers Extend Qualifying Offers To Jordan Clarkson, Tarik Black & Marcelo Huertas
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Lakers have extended qualifying offers to guards Jordan Clarkson and Marcelo Huertas, and forward Tarik Black.
This move makes all three players restricted free agents, meaning the Lakers have the right to match any contract and retain them, regardless of player desire.
The Lakers did not extend a qualifying offer to forward Ryan Kelly.
The team has made it known it intends to engage in long-term contract negotiations with Clarkson when free agency begins at 12:00am EST on Friday.
Other teams can present the three restricted free agents with offer sheets, but ultimately, it will be up to the Lakers to decide whether or not the team wants to retain all three.
Black would earn $1.1 million over one year if he accepts, Huertas would earn just over $1 million over one year if he accepts, and Clarkson would earn $2.7 million over one year if he accepts his qualifying offer.
