Students Return To Asbestos-Free Lake View Elementary School

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Lake View Elementary School reopened Wednesday for the first time in nearly two years following an asbestos scare.

At 8:30 a.m., more than 325 students walked through the reconstructed doors of the school, according to the Ocean View School District.

This year's curriculum will be focused on the acronym "STEAM": Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

The educational program supports students by fostering self-direct learning.

According to the school district, every classroom has Promethean ActivPanels and furniture that offers flexible teaching and learning spaces.

Lake View Elementary School was among several other campuses in Orange County that became exposed to asbestos during a renovation project in 2014.

Health officials confirm the campus is now asbestos-free and safe for students to attend classes.
