Lake Elsinore man arrested for deadly shooting

A man suspected of a deadly shooting in Lake Elsinore late Monday night was behind bars on Tuesday, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department. 

Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Poe Street at around 11 p.m. after learning of a shooting in the area, according to a press release from the department. 

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics attempted medical aid but he was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. 

He has been identified as 37-year-old Hemet resident Marcus Bryant. 

Investigators with the Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and located multiple people at the home where the shooting happened. Several people were detained and interviewed at the Lake Elsinore Station, where deputies ultimately arrested 39-year-old Lake Elsinore man George Eddie Steven Thompson.

He was booked for murder and a felony weapon enhancement.
