La Mirada Woman, 22, Accused Of Shooting Ex-Boyfriend In The Face

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old woman accused of shooting her former boyfriend in the face has been charged.

Jerica Mae Caballes of La Mirada was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of attempted murder and first-degree burglary but her court appearance was continued to April, authorities said.

The felony counts stem from accusations that Caballes broke into her ex-boyfriend's Pomona home and shot him in the face.

Authorities said the incident happened March 26 but Caballes was arrested the next day.

Caballes' bail has been set at $2 million, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a written statement.

She faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison if convicted as charged, prosecutors said.
