LA Mayor Begins Raising Money For 2017 Re-Election

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is raising money for his 2017 re-election campaign, in the low-key style that has become a trademark.

The first-term Democrat hasn't formally declared his intention to seek a second term at City Hall, but his personal website Tuesday was topped with the statement, "Eric Garcetti for Mayor 2017."

It seeks donations up to $1,400 to "help re-elect Eric Garcetti."

Garcetti has focused his first term on getting back to basics, from paving streets to luring new jobs to the city of nearly 4 million.

Garcetti political consultant Bill Carrick confirmed the mayor had started raising funds.
