LA Marathon To Start Earlier On Sunday With High Heat In Forecast

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The L.A. Marathon will start 30 minutes earlier this weekend because the forecast is calling for record high temperatures.

The full field start time for Sunday's race is moving from 7:25 a.m. to 6:55 a.m.

Race officials will use wave starts to ensure proper spacing between runners and to make it easier to replenish supplies at aid stations early along the 26-mile route. Extra water and fluid supplies will be increased, while misting stations, cold towels and ice will be provided.

Sunday's forecast calls for a high of 86 degrees in Los Angeles, well above the average of 70 degrees.
