Littlerock Man Charged With Possession Of More Than 2 Dozen Fighting Roosters

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles County man has been charged with possession of more than two dozen fighting roosters.

Inocencio Rodriguez Aguirre. 46, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 28 misdemeanor counts of possession of a bird for fighting.

Prosecutors said in a statement that deputies acting on a tip found about 150 game birds on Aguirre's property in Littlerock, which is southeast of Palmdale.

The statement says 28 roosters were trimmed for fighting and led to the charges, which each carry a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Aguirre remains jailed on $140,000 bail.
