LA Galaxy Set To Host Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Volunteer Day

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Galaxy will host Volunteer Day at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank on Nov. 5th in order to combat hunger across the city.

LA Galaxy staff and players will help fight hunger while spending their day preparing meals for families, seniors, and individuals in need in the Los Angeles County.

To join the LA Galaxy in the fight against hunger on Nov. 5, fans can sign up online to participate alongside LA Galaxy front office staff and players by using "Galaxy5" as the password.

The event is open to the public, with over 200 total volunteers expected to attend.

Galaxy midfielder Rafael Garcia, LA Galaxy President Chris Klein and LA Galaxy 2015 Humanitarian of the Year Todd Dunivant are among those expected to be in attendance.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been feeding L.A. for more than 40 years.

With nearly 30,000 people volunteering at the Food Bank each year, over one billion pounds of food have been distributed.

The event will take place at 2825 E. 54th Street, Vernon, CA, 90058.

The event is scheduled to take place starting at 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 5th and last until at least 4:30 p.m.

The LA Galaxy Foundation recently hosted a successful weeklong food drive at StubHub Center on October 12-18, collecting over 1,150 lbs. of food, with help from LA Galaxy front office staff, players, fans, LA Galaxy South Bay and Timbers Army.
