LA Galaxy Clinch Spot In 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs

SEATTLE (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Galaxy have clinched a spot in the 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs with a draw against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday.

The 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 28th with the "knockout" round and will conclude on Sunday, Dec. 6th with the 2015 MLS Cup.

Chad Barrett scored in the third minute of stoppage time to give the Seattle Sounders a 1-1 tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy in front of 56,097 fans Sunday night at CenturyLink Field.

The Galaxy have a 14-9-9 record this season, with 51 points, putting them at the top of the Western Conference.

The Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs features an expanded format with 12 teams qualifying,  including bids to the top six teams in points from each conference at the end of the regular season.

The top two seeds in each conference will earn first-round byes, while the third and fourth seeds will host the fifth and sixth seeds in single elimination Conference Knockout Round matches.

The higher seeded teams will also host the second leg of the two-game, aggregate goal Conference Semifinals and Conference Championships series.

The Galaxy have one more match remaining in the regular season against the the Portland Timbers on October 18th.
