LA County Sheriff's Deputies Wound 1 Man, Arrest 2 Others In Paramount

PARAMOUNT (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies shot a suspect in the leg after a late-night confrontation in the city of Paramount.

The sheriff's department said Sunday that deputies approached a car that had been speeding around 9:30 p.m. Saturday after it stopped in a driveway.

A man in the front passenger seat pointed a gun at them and one deputy was struck by the car as the driver backed out of the driveway.

The car's driver was shot in the leg after deputies opened fire but he drove a short distance before crashing.

The driver and another passenger surrendered and the third man was caught a short time later.

The gun remains missing.

The deputy was treated at a hospital and released.

Authorities have not yet released the suspects' names.
