LA County model used dating apps before burglarizing her victims, authorities say
Authorities are seeking additional victims of a woman who allegedly burglarized multiple men after targeting them on social media and then posing as their girlfriend before taking things from their homes.
In a release issued Wednesday as they asked more potential victims to come forward, Los Angeles County deputies identified the suspect as Adva Lavie, who also goes by Mia Ventura Shoshana/Shana.
"Suspect Lavie has been involved in a series of residential burglaries throughout LA County, targeting older men and posing as a girlfriend or companion on social media dating platforms and applications," the release said.
Lavie is described as standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing approximately 105 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and is known to drive both a black Porsche SUV and a white Mercedes-Benz sedan.
Podcast host Michael Sartain, who had Lavie on his show, said that she's very charismatic, but that the investigation doesn't come as much of a surprise.
"She's a saleswoman. Makes it feel normal that you gift her money on a regular basis," Sartain said. "For the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to come after her, isn't surprising, it just means she couldn't stop stealing."
He says that the men were probably paying her money as part of their relationship, but that she was also taking things from her house.
"She was stealing from them and then stating, 'If you go to the cops I will claim that you raped me,'" Sartain said. "I've heard two guys say that they've specifically been extorted by her."
Jail records showed that Lavie was previously arrested on a burglary charge but was released after posting bail. No charges were filed in that case.
Anyone who believes they are also a victim or who has more information was asked to contact LASD at (818) 878-1808 or Los Angeles Police Department detectives at (818) 374-9500.
