LA County Fire Truck Collides With Vehicle In Deadly Agoura Hills Accident

AGOURA HILLS (CBSLA.com)  —  A Los Angeles County Fire truck collided with a vehicle causing a deadly accident in Agoura Hills Friday evening.

Stu Mundel reported from Sky 2 over the scene.

Officials were trying to cut the roof off the vehicle to extricate the trapped person, the driver who was first described in "extremely critical condition."

Mundel described it as a "feverish" attempt to cut the roof off.

The crash occurred on Mullholland Highway, near Kanan Dume Road just before 5 p.m.

The highway was closed in both directions, Mundel reported.

Later, reporting from the scene, KCAL9's Brittney Hopper confirmed that the male driver was dead and a female passenger was airlifted to a hospital in unknown condition.

The area is known for wine tastings and weddings, Hopper reported.

Sky 9 showed a group of people who were well-dressed standing around visibly shaken and upset.

"From what we understand," said CHP Sgt. Heather Hoglund, "the emergency vehicle did have lights and sirens on from preliminary witness statements. What the truck was responding to, we do not have that information yet."

The name and age of the victim was not revealed.
