Kraft Cheese Slices Recalled Over Possible Choking Danger

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) The Kraft Heinz company is issuing a warning to people who put cheese singles on their children's sandwiches.

Kraft Heinz is recalling 36,000 cases after discovering there is a chance a thin slice of package film can adhere to the cheese -- even after you remove the wrapper -- creating a choking danger.

The voluntary recall affects the three and four pound boxes of American and White American Pasteurized Cheese.

The boxes will have a "best when used by" date of between December 29, 2015 and January 4, 2016.

The date is followed by the manufacturing codes S-54 and S-55.

Kraft said they received three complaints about choking, prompting the recall.

California consumers can also contact Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations for a full refund, at (800) 432-3101, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT.

In March, Kraft recalled some boxes of Macaroni & Cheese dinners after it was revealed some of the boxes possibly contained metal shavings.
