'Kobe's Back' Wins $200K San Vicente Stakes At Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Kobe's Back rebounded to win the $200,000 San Vicente Stakes at Santa Anita by 5¼ lengths Sunday.

After nearly falling and finishing 10th in his last start in the CashCall Futurity on Dec. 14 at Hollywood Park, Kobe's Back ran seven furlongs in 1:21.84 and $5.40, $2.80 and $2.40 in the prep race for the $1 million Santa Anita Derby.

The 3-year-old, ridden by Joel Rosario, earned $120,000 to raise his earnings to $120,250. He has two wins in four starts.

Cherubim returned $3 and $2.60, and Rprettyboyfloyd paid $3 to show.

Meanwhile, Red Outlaw beat favorite Gangnam Guy by a head in the $75,000 Baffles Stakes for 3-year-olds.

Red Outlaw ran 6½ furlongs in 1:06.39 and paid $7.20, $4 and $3.40. Gangnam Guy returned $3.40 and $2.80, and Horse Laugh paid $6.60 to show.
