Kobe Bryant Still On Track To Play In Lakers' Season Opener

EL SEGUNDO (AP) — Kobe Bryant is still expected to play in the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener after being slowed by a bruised leg for two weeks.

Bryant participated in most of the Lakers' practice Monday at their training complex.

Coach Byron Scott says he expects Bryant to play against Minnesota on Wednesday. Scott says Bryant "knocks off the rust pretty quickly."

Bryant bruised his leg Oct. 13 during an exhibition game in Las Vegas. He has returned slowly, with the Lakers being mindful of the 37-year-old pro's health after his last three seasons ended early due to injury.

Bryant is the third-leading scorer in NBA history and a five-time league champion. He is beginning his 20th season with the Lakers, and his $25 million salary is the largest in the league.
