KNX Spotlight: Understanding Transgenders

(KNX 1070) — The names Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox may be familiar to you, but other than that, most people don't know much about transgenders.

These are people whose gender identity is different from their biological sex, and there are hundreds of thousands of them in the U.S.

But being transgender can be tough. Statistics show that more than 40% of them have attempted suicide, and many others are physically attacked, bullied or can't get a job.

Many of those who are transgender say they knew it from early childhood. So, what do you do if your young son tells you he's a girl? Or how do you explain why Aunt Alice is now Uncle Al?

We'll have experts in the KNX studio to share their experiences, explain and inform during a special hour-long KNX Spotlight hosted by KNX anchor Chris Sedens and investigative reporter Charles Feldman.

"He Said, She Said: Understanding Transgenders", airs Thursday at 10 a.m. Click here to listen live.
