Knife-Wielding Man Wounded In Murrieta Officer-Involved Shooting

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — A knife-wielding man was wounded in an officer-involved shooting at a convenience store, police said Friday.

The shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. Thursday at a Chevron station, located in the 24000 block of Madison Avenue in Murrieta, after authorities received several calls about a man with weapon.

When police arrived on scene, they "saw the man inside the gas station market waving a knife around and apparently trying to stab customers," Lt. Tony Conrad said.

Officers ordered 24-year-old Gabriel Acuna to drop the knife, but he refused and was shot by officers.

Acuna was transported to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.

He was arrested on charges of brandishing a weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

No citizens were injured in the incident.
