Knife-Wielding Man Taken Into Custody At Garden Grove Preschool

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A 30-year-old man was in custody Friday after brandishing a knife at a local preschool earlier this week, authorities said.

According to the Garden Grove Police Department, Gonzalo Parra Jr. was arrested Wednesday at the Garden Grove First Preschool.

Officers were sent to the 8400 block of Garden Grove Boulevard just before 9 a.m. for reports of a man at the school with a knife.

Witnesses said Parra ran onto campus and entered an unoccupied classroom.

When a teacher attempted to tell him to leave, Parra pointed a knife and closed the door behind him, officers said.

Once on scene, authorities said, Parra was found armed with a 12-inch kitchen knife and was alone in the classroom.

He complied with officers and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

According to authorities, no students were threatened or injured during the crime.

Parra was booked at the Orange County Jail on charges of possession of a weapon on school grounds, brandishing a deadly weapon and a parole violation hold on drug charges.
