Knife-Wielding Man Arrested Following Standoff In Westlake District

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Officers Friday arrested a man who barricaded himself inside of a home within the Westlake District.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers were sent to a home located in the 800 block of South Burlington Avenue near 8th Street for report of a disturbance call involving a man with a knife.

Upon their arrival, police said a man entered his home and made threats while he refused to come outside.

He was armed with a large knife and was believed to be alone inside the residence.

A preliminary investigation revealed a victim of criminal thefts was threatened by the suspect, but did not sustain any physical injuries, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Shortly before 7 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody.
