KFC Recipe May No Longer Be A Secret

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — For decades, KFC has been known for chicken, Colonel Sanders, the ad slogan "Finger lickin' good," and a secret recipe the company claimed made its product special. The recipe was said to have 11 herbs and spices, and the company claimed it was locked in a safe.

Now, the recipe may have been revealed by a man who's related to KFC founder Harland Sanders.

Joe Ledington showed a recipe to a reporter from the Chicago Tribune, who was researching a story on the KFC founder. The handwritten recipe was in a scrapbook that belonged to Harland Sanders' widow. The Tribune published the recipe as part of its story.

Yum! Brands, which owns the KFC chain, said in a statement the recipe is incorrect.

Ledington later told the Tribune reporter he wasn't sure the recipe he found was the one that seasons KFC's signature product.
