Judge Revokes Probation For Singer Chris Brown

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles Superior Court judge Thursday revoked singer Chris Brown's probation stemming from his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna in Hancock Park.

Judge James R. Brandlin allowed Brown to remain free for the time being after the R&B singer traveled without approval for a concert and failed to complete community service on time. Five people were shot and wounded during the San Jose show on Sunday.

Attorney Mark Geragos told Brandlin that his office incorrectly advised Brown he didn't need permission to travel for the show.

Brown was supposed to complete 1,000 hours of community labor by the end of January, but he still has roughly 200 hours to complete.

The R&B star will be allowed to remain free until a March 20 hearing when the judge will receive an update from probation officials.
