JPL Program Highlights How Space Innovations Can Be Used For Commercial Products

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — NASA know-how has been used to make camera lenses, software and infrared devices, among many other items.

KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports that the door is now open for anyone who has ideas on how to develop NASA/JPL technology for new products.

"We want folks to come to us, we want to talk to them about what their needs are, and if there is something we can do for them, we definitely want to try to make that happen," said Indrani Graczyk, the manager of JPL's Commercial Program Office.

Graczyk said businesses in robotics might benefit from technology being used in the current missions to Mars.

"Finally, we can get that robot butler we were all promised as children," she said.

Graczyk is expected to lead a discussion on how to take advantage of NASA technology at 7 p.m. Thursday.
