Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Sept. 17)
STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — There's an interesting afternoon on tap. First off, look for some cooler weather in the coastal plain. Downtown LA tied a record with 103 Tuesday, but look for a good 9 or 10 degree drop Wednesday.
Temps will still be well above average but better. The valleys will still be over 100, so expect warm conditions from Woodland Hills to the Inland Empire.
There is the possibility of thunderstorm development this afternoon. Both the Oxnard NWS & San Diego NWS have issued flash flood watches for the afternoon. The focus of activity will be to the east.
There is enough moisture in place that if there is a thunderstorm, flooding is quite possible. Folks in the eastern portions of the San Gabriel Valley and the Antelope Valley should be prepared, as well as the Inland Empire. In fact, communities to the south like Lake Elsinore are susceptible to floods Wednesday afternoon as well.
A trough moves in Thursday and a cut-off low will set up show as we head into the weekend. That will bring more cooling to the entire region.
There is even the chance that the marine layer could give us a little drizzle by Friday morning. Look for a decent weekend, then next week get ready. It looks like another monster high pressure ridge sets up. It actually looks a bit stronger than the ridge we had in place this week.
